Sister Island Rock Fishing Catch Report

Another happening Saturday for a day of fun rock fishing. This time we are heading over to sister island. It’s my first time going there for fishing and heard from one of the fishing buddies that there are monkeys on the island and sometimes they can be real trouble makers when all of us are busy fishing.

The meals we bring are their primary target on the island. The island is pretty empty and any food like whole meal bread or chicken rice would be real delicacy to the desperate monkeys. One of our regular fishing buddy brought a fake snake with him and it worked really well in keeping the food thiefs away from the jetty.

We choose the bigger island to try our luck on. By the time we reached the big sister island, it was about 2 hours into the incoming tide and the current was moderate when I had my first cast.

Again I was using rock fishing rigs and planning to catch some parrot or rabbit fishes from the rocky sea bed. Luck immediately struck me and presented me with three adult silver moony during the first 20min. Forgot to take photo when it was alive. Here is a photo when they are nicely steamed.

However, the worst nightmare came right after that when the current came in full force. Together with the strong current was also the strong wind causing water temperature to drop. This kind of weather condition was not very good for fishing. As a result, the total catch of the day was really disappointing with 7 to 8 half-beak and one palm sized snapper only. It was not the most fruitful trip so far but the first 3 silver moony did make my family Happy during dinner.
